The data tells a clear story: Rwandans don't want fancy features. They want three things: speed, reliability, and proof of payment.
Average payment time dropped from 25 minutes (USSD code + queue + receipt) to 45 seconds (open app, tap, pay). That's 24 minutes saved per transaction.
REG electricity makes up 62% of payments, WASAC water 28%, and Startimes TV 10%. Most users (73%) save multiple meters in the app.
The biggest surprise? 40% of users check their payment history before paying. They want to know: 'When did I last pay? How much?' PeSa solved that with a simple history view.
MoMo integration was the hardest part. MTN's API has quirks — we documented every edge case. Now we wire MoMo into every client site in under 2 hours.
